Precision Soil Sampling

Soil sampling measures the fertility status of the soil specifically in your fields. It is the first step in improving your yields and profits.

By first mapping the land with our VRT or Variable Rate Technology, and overlaying soil type information on these maps we can then best identify soil sample zones or grids.

Measuring the soil pH and nutrient levels and then applying lime with variable rate technology allows us to get the fields more uniform in growing potential. This also increases yield and profit.  FCI’s soil sampling and analysis sets a process and pattern of continuing improvement year after year.

We measure:

Major nutrients: nitrogen (N), phosphorus (P), and potassium (K)
Secondary nutrients: sulfur, calcium, magnesium
Minor nutrients: iron, manganese, copper, zinc, and chlorine

In addition to the cost benefits, the application of just the right amount of nutrients, which varies across a field depending on the precise needs in each area, is a more environmentally friendly approach to soil management.
